Dec. 30, 2013 - Jan. 5, 2014

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.”
                                                 — Psalm 91:14-15 (NIV 1984)

The Lord Bless you and keep you!
The Lord let His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you!
The Lord look upon you kindly and give you peace!
And may you all have a blessed, healthy and Happy New Year.

Priorities for Prayer

Mission Aviation Fellowship is grateful for the many friends who pray daily for this ministry. Thank you for your faithful intercession!

  • Monday, December 30

Thankfully Haiti was spared from damage in this year’s hurricane season. Pray for rains during the upcoming dry season.

  • Tuesday, December 31

Pray for MAF missionary kids who are seniors in high school. Ask God to help them as they finish up this last semester of school. Pray for clarity and direction as they apply to colleges and contemplate their next steps.

  • Wednesday, January 1

As we begin this brand new year, pray that MAF will never forget what God has done in days gone by, but that we will be totally committed to whatever He has in store for us in the days to come.

  • Thursday, January 2

Give thanks for the Hupla language Bibles that arrived recently in Papua, Indonesia. This is only the third complete translation of the Bible out of several hundred languages there. It comes on the heels of the 50th anniversary of the Gospel coming to this area.

  • Friday, January 3

As we begin this new year, ask the Lord to continue to call people to serve Him in Christian missions.

  • Saturday, January 4

Several individual MAF staff members are dealing with physical issues. Ask the Lord for a healing touch for each one.

  • Sunday, January 5

Please pray for the managers of MAF’s overseas programs as they lead diverse teams committed to bringing the Gospel to remote areas and making life better for isolated people.

Last Chance : Help MAF Meet The Challenge

Mission Aviation Fellowship
Last Chance : Help MAF Meet The Challenge
"We know there is someone named Jesus and that He is coming back again. But if He comes now we will all die because that is all we know."

One of the village elders told the MAF pilot this after he landed MAF’s first flight ever in their village.

MAF continues to reach communities with the good news of Jesus Christ. People are hungry for Him, even if all they’ve ever heard is a wisp of truth, a piece of the puzzle.

You can connect those pieces for someone who has been isolated from the Word of God. One more gift to MAF in 2013 can impact one more life for the Kingdom.

And right now, your donation to MAF will be combined with that of a very generous foundation’s, which is offering a $200,000 year-end challenge. So imagine: Your gift of $50 becomes $100; $75 becomes $150; and $250 becomes $500.

There’s never been a better time to make a difference in the life of an isolated person. Please prayerfully consider a year-end gift to MAF in 2013.

All for His glory,
John

“But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.”
                                                 — Luke 2:10-11 (NIV 1984)

“Christ was born in the first century, yet he belongs to all centuries. He was born a Jew, yet He belongs to all races. He was born in Bethlehem, yet He belongs to all countries.”

Bringing Bibles To Persecuted People

From MAF's base in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), program manager Jon Cadd flew across the border to bless a remote community with copies of God's Word.

I had a great trip up to Central African Republic (CAR) this week. In Bunia we loaded up 1000 Zandi language Bibles and flew to Isiro where I picked up Wendy Atkins, a missionary with Africa Inland Mission, and then flew up to Zemio on the CAR/Congo border. It is quite a beautiful place on a hill overlooking country that looks like elephant and buffalo should be roaming Read More...

A Broken Leg And A Bumpy Ride

PAPUA – Kustan was badly injured when he arrived at the MAF base in Wamena. The Indonesian boy had fallen from a tree and his femur was broken in several places. He urgently needed to get to the hospital in Sentani. However, rough storms and 200 miles separated Kustan and MAF pilot Alan Discoe from the Sentani hospital.

MAF Chief Pilot Brian Shepson shares how the gifts donated on #GivingTuesday (almost $12,000) will benefit MAF's medical relief efforts in Haiti, Indonesia (Papua and Kalimantan), Africa (Lesotho, Mozambique, East DRC, and West DRC) and Central Asia.

A foundation has generously established a $200,000 year-end challenge.  Your donation, today, combined with the foundation's grant can help bring the light of Jesus Christ into dark places— through the healing touch of medical professionals, food to sustain the hungry, and Bibles to tell the story of God's Word.

The M&M Christmas Poem is the perfect way to share the nativity story with friends, neighbors, and co-workers. Discipleship through chocolate!
